Draycott Racquet & Fitness Club secures £27,000 from Lawn Tennis Association (LTA)

Draycott Racquet & Fitness Club has received a £27,000 interest free loan to part fund the refurbishment of two outdoor tennis courts to a new artificial grass surface in blue and green colours.  This improved courts will encourage new members of the community to try tennis and improve facilities for the existing tennis members.

The LTA invests over £5 million pounds of new funding per annum to enhance tennis facilities, with the aim of getting more people playing more often.  British Tennis is currently on the rise following the GB Davis Cup team becoming World Champions in 2015 and Sport England data showing participation in tennis increased last year.

To celebrate the award, the club held a social tennis session at the weekend which was very popular for both existing team players and many visitors.  The club offers coaching for adults and juniors on these new courts and the existing indoor tennis courts.  The tennis programme at Draycott Racquet & Fitness Club is open to all and both new members and visitors are welcome.

Club Chairman, Keith Carder, said: “We are delighted to have secured this investment, which means we can upgrade the quality of two outdoor tennis courts to support the LTA’s mission of getting more people playing tennis more often”.
